Cadet Mia McClain presents the Mia's Leadership Scholarship to a Nansemond River High School student.
Cadet McClain personally financed and started her own scholarship fund in 2014 as a way to show her appreciation for her blessings. She states that, “I was always raised to believe that in order to keep the blessings that God gives us, we have to give in return.” So, with the help of her mother, Mia was able to organize a $500 scholarship for high school students going off to college.
Mia's Leadership Scholarship requires that applicants be rounded individuals, display leadership both on and off the track field, and know the college they will be attending following graduation.
